When I was little, I dreamed that I would be a school bus driver. For me, it wasn’t a matter of wanting to serve the community or have an influence in children’s lives. I just thought the extendable stop sign was cool. Thankfully, that was a short-lived fantasy.
How about you? Any interesting ambitions?

When I was little, I told my mom that I wanted to be a “hair-cutter”…

When I was young I either wanted to be an electrician or join the navy, don’t ask why a primary school kid wants to be an electrician (can’t explain it myself), but boats are cool!
As I’ve grown I tried both - trained for a short while as an electrician & didn’t like it & joined the naval reserves, intending to take a commission full time, untill a knee injury stopped that dream.
Thankfully I’m doing a job now, that I never wanted to do - a job that very few kids dream of - working in a factory! thankfully its printing Gospels & other types of Christian literature so I love it.

Crystal, I’m glad you clarified. I was beginning to be a bit concerned about Johnathon. I think these are chronological:
ballerina
Rockette
lawyer (from ages 4 to 15)
math teacher
accountant
missionary in Spain
speech pathologist
and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be a mom

I wanted to be a defense attorney for juvenile delinquents. Of course, I also wanted to be a juvenile delinquent. At the same time (around age 9), I wanted to be a vet. My father told me that girls couldn’t do those things, and that I had to be a teacher. Because of that, I stayed away from teaching until I found out years later that it was one of the things I do best!

I think every little girl in my elementary school wanted to be a veterinarian at some point or another. And then as we got older, and learned more words, that somehow morphed into “marine biologist.” Good thing we all didn’t go for that, the market might be a little supersaturated. :-)
Orison has a growing list of things he wants to be. He wants to be all of them at the same time:
preacher
piano man (I think that means taking Carol Steddom’s job)
garbage man
park builder
I’m sure there are more; I can’t think of the rest right now.

I always wanted to be a garbage man. I thought they had the “coolest” job. When i was younger, the guys that would come pick up trash on our street seemed so strong and manly (I was thinking this back then, NOT NOW), and they would always come around without any shirt on and most of them had a bandana wrapped around their head. That was my dream job.

When I was a child, I loved reading. I wanted to read books all day, explore and discover new (good) books. And get paid to do it.
Yeah, I wanted to be an editor-person for a publisher who gets to read the submissions and decide who gets published or not (ie if I had discovered something new and wonderful).
